Server Downtime and Patch Notes 12/15 (ver .44)

December 15, 2006

The server will be brought down on Friday, December 15th @ 2:00pm CDT to apply this update. Expected downtime is approximately 2 hours.

Here are the full patch notes for v.44:

General Changes

Several optimizations were made to the server to improve performance. A handful of memory leaks were found and fixed. This should help with the unsightly lag you've been experiencing lately.

Our login queue system has been enabled and a limit has been placed on the number of folks allowed on a world. We've also opened up one more world.

Monsters will no longer follow you forever through the dungeon. If you run too far away a monster's spawn location, it will become invulnerable and run back home.

The rate of monster wandering has been reduced.

The x-ray vision system has been modified. It now shows any characters that are nearby regardless of line-of-sight.

Fog has been added to Townston to help with low framerate issues.

Magical items (blue) no longer require Premium Membership to access them.

Major potions have been reclassified as rare (yellow).

The server now remembers the last zone portal you passed through. If your instances get reset for any reason then you will be able to teleport back to that portal from any Obelisk. This will allow you to effectively save your progress over multiple logins or joining groups.

Many seams were fixed in the snow forest tileset.

Skill books are dropping as loot again.

Crossbows should drop less frequently.

King's Coins now drop from treasure chests.

"Ranged Weapon Finesse" has been renamed to "Trigger Finger Frenzy".

Shotguns and staves should now have sounds.

17 new quests have been added to the game.

Weapons can now be bought with King's Coins.

Level ranges for dungeons have been adjusted in some cases.

New music, voiceovers and sound effects have been added.

The color of private messages has been changed to improve readability.

A "Click here to join!" button has been added to the main UI for free players.

The server selection dialog has been improved for readability.

The right-click context menu should behave in a more proper way now.

Balance Changes

Fighters now get 37.5 health per endurance instead of 50.

Monster attack ratings have been increased.

Monster damage has been increased by 15%.

Gold drops for champions and heroes have been increased.

The cost of King's Coin items have been increased by 300%.

Shields now show their block percentages.

All Unique and Mythic items are now soulbound.

Items may now drop that are up to two levels above your character level.

A bug was fixed with spellcasting champions, heroes and bosses. This bug caused their damage to be way too high.
