We recently talked to Lead Designer Mark about why Dungeon Runners is so funny. It didn't quite go as planned. Here's a transcript.

With the introduction of Player vs. Player (PvP) gameplay in
Dungeon Runners, we absolutely had to kill each other. It was foreordained, written in blood into Marketing Guy Greg’s employee handbook the day he got here. Therefore, when Tuesday, August 21 came and Chunk #1 hit the Public Test Server (PTS), Death rode along with it.
Death for Greg that is.

Say hello to Tommy, a Quest Designer for Dungeon Runners. He'll be the first of many entries introducing the DR team to you, and in the coming weeks expect more and more... stuff... from them. For today, however, Tommy is giving a bit of info into his background. Maybe too much info. We'll let you decide.

I hit the hay after a good dinner with the team. I was leaving, but they had one more day left of the show. I felt for them, these shows can be rough. fell asleep around two or so, but had to get up at 5:30AM to hit the airport. Good thing I did, too, because the airplane I was on never took off.

The show is now wrapping up and we’ve had another great day talking to folks about all the NCsoft games. There are lots more people talking about Dungeon Runners than the day before, asking questions, telling us they’d already subscribed, were asking their friends to play, and so forth.

After my ninja-skill display inside the convention the day before, I figured I shouldn’t press my luck on blowing past a cop directing traffic at the con. He was turning away all cars trying to go in the back entrance to the center. No one was getting in. I said my prayer and hoped for salvation; I definitely didn’t want to have to park on the other side of the tracks from where I was. All those one-way streets are maddening.

After the show, I was a starvin’ marvin. So I went to have dinner with my best friend. He was down in the super-swanky Del Mar area with his girlfriend, who I hadn’t met in person yet. We hung out for a bit and thankfully he paid for the whole enchilada.

There I was, saying hello to everyone for the first time except Jeff S. I met him the week before when he spilled coffee on some poor soul in Creative Services. In Karen’s office no less. We’re racking up a nice we-owe-Karen-big tab, aren’t we?

Learning from my parking adventure the day before, I leave the car at the hotel and take the shuttle to the show. I’m armed with a box of flyers, and I’m raring to see what’s what at the show since it’s in its third day. I get there early and I walk right in. I didn’t need no stinkin’ badge, but it’s easy to walk right in when you know how.
