Comic-Con Day 2A: I'm a super-sneaker

August 7, 2007

Learning from my parking adventure the day before, I leave the car at the hotel and take the shuttle to the show. I’m armed with a box of flyers, and I’m raring to see what’s what at the show since it’s in its third day. I get there early and I walk right in. I didn’t need no stinkin’ badge, but it’s easy to walk right in when you know how.

You can do it by holding something in front of where your badge usually is, hanging on your neck on a lanyard. I put that box of flyers right there and smiled when I walked by the guy guarding the door. About thirty seconds later, deep in the bowels of the show floor, I was dropping off the flyers at the NCsoft booth and I realized maybe it wasn’t my fine skillz that got me inside. I was wearing an NCsoft shirt after all. The problem was that the box covered that too. I guess I just exude confidence. That, and being very white, really doesn’t fit most FBI profiles, does it? No matter. I got in and that was that!

I then go back out through security, and letting me out was far harder than getting in. Trying to find the exhibitor registration area took fifteen minutes. And I’d been here a few times before. There went my feeling of being a ninja.
