Comic-Con Day 3A: A new day
August 10, 2007
After being humbled, humiliated, and disgraced by the awesome force that is our beloved Comic-Con, I awoke with new vigor and a healthy respect for the fans that make this whole event possible. Dude, there’s zillions of us!
I heard on the news Comic-Con had about 124,000 extra people in San Diego. So, it grew over 10% instantly just for the show. That’s NUTS!
I bet there were bajillions of fans who would LOVE the humor in Dungeon Runners. So, I grabbed breakfast at my mom’s and hit the road, trying to get back to San Diego fast.
Fast would not be the way I described the agonizing journey southward on Saturday morning.
I left Orange County around 9AM. I arrived about noon.
At least I didn’t have to read eight thousand “no vacancy” signs on the way down. But I became very, very familiar with a bunch of other people’s bumpers. Worse, I was upset I couldn’t unleash the power of my awesome 350Z on the California highway. What was the point of getting a slick, cool car if I couldn’t use it properly?
I finally got back to the show, swung by Kinko’s for Round Two of the flyers, and hit the scene again.
This time, I had a plan. A plan to make around two thousand friends at the show, one flyer at a time.
The parking garage next door to the convention hall was my target. I got Dan on the line and told him to meet me there. We had an appointment with destiny.
