The Blog interviews DR's new Associate Producer

July 16, 2008

We thought we'd greet our new Associate Producer with an interview. Little did we know what we were getting into...

The Blog: Greetings everyone! For today The Blog is going to have a very exciting interview with Dungeon Runners' new Associate Producer, April "CuppaJo" Burba! Hi there April! Or is it Jo... or CuppaJo... or AprilJo... or CuppaBurba?

April Burba: You can call me "Boss."

The Blog: [Coughing]. Oh good I'm glad you straightened that up. You must be very busy creating your first blog post I imagine! I could sure use the help.

April: Well, actually I have been spending most of my time getting to know the team, the players, and our financials. Imagine my surprise when I learned you actually had a salary.

The Blog: [Laughs]. Well, I have to keep Mrs. Blog and the Blogerites all fed and decked out in the proper school attire. Anyway, what will you be doing with Dungeon Runners? For some reason I have the hardest time getting contributors...

April: Oh, you know, producer-y stuff like budgets, meetings, approving assorted things, long-term planning, and HR stuff. We should probably schedule a meeting to discuss your long-term blogging strategy.

The Blog: Well back in the day we used to have this great long-term strategy. Everyone on the team was supposed to be doing blog entries and we'd have this really neat rotation where various members of the team would contribute on different days. Pretty soon it turned into just weirdo conversation from Marketing Guy Greg during last year's convention season, and then he mysteriously vanished when I beat him like a wet noodle during a PvP match. After that, it's been pretty much just me.

April: Indeed. I've done some fact-checking. You've posted maybe a dozen entries in the last year. We pay you for forty hours a week and you've written maybe five thousand words. By my very rough math skills you wrote basically two and a half words per hour.

The Blog: Look, I've done plenty! Didn't you see my award-winning interview with Shivery the Incorrigible Snowman?

April: Meh. What award did you win anyway?

The Blog: A CableACE award. How about my globe trotting adventures searching for the quickly elusive Bling Gnome? It's elusive! And quick!

April: You were trolling stories from "News of the Weird" and posting links to obviously fake Youtube videos. Where's your Bling Gnome interview anyway?

The Blog: It's held up in legal. Do you know hard it is to get things done around here as a blog? People around here should give me more respect. I'm the only self-updating blog on the internet!

April: I've seen randomized "word of the day" sites produce better updates than you.

The Blog: I don't have to take this. I'm my own blog and proud of it.

April: You do realize that the producer part of my title means I can fire you.

The Blog: [Pause]. You do realize that means you'd have to do this work yourself then.

April: [Pause]. Good point. How about a small raise?

The Blog: Wooo! Ladies and gentlemen, April "CuppaJo" Burba, Dungeon Runners' amazing new Associate Producer! Thanks for being here new boss!

April: I'd like the Gnome interview by Tuesday.
